Capsule Stories is happy to announce our Best Microfiction nominations for 2021.
The anthology Best Microfiction 2022 will be published by Pelekinesis in the summer of 2022. Co-edited by award-winning microfiction writer/editor Meg Pokrass and Flannery O’Connor Prize–winning author Gary Fincke, the anthology will have Tania Hershman serve as final judge. The Best Microfiction anthology series considers stories of only 400 words or fewer. Literary magazine editors may nominate up to six microfiction pieces published in 2021.

“In Florence” by Emma Bider
Emma Bider is a writer and PhD student living in Ottawa. She is currently fixated on identifying trees in her neighborhood. Emma’s collection of short stories We Animals was published in December 2020. You can follow her on Twitter at @ebider.

“Rebirth” by Katie Oliver
Katie Oliver writes flash fiction, poetry, and short stories. She has been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize and the Bath Flash Fiction Award and was awarded an honorable mention in the Reflex Fiction Winter 2019 competition. She has further work published in various places, including Popshot Quarterly, Molotov Cocktail, perhappened, and Ellipsis Zine, and is a first reader for The Forge Literary Magazine.
